Cobra 390 Radio Control System for Tail Lifts

Work safely and comfortably with tail lifts
thanks to integrated radio control with zone detection.

With Cobra 390, we created a complete tail lift controller ecosystem that meets the high safety requirements of the various countries, is easy to use, configurable and of modular concept.

The Cobra 390 Radio Control System at a Glance

What distinguishes Cobra 390

Zone localization handheld transmitter

Cobra 390 offers revolutionary zone localization that gives the operator maximum freedom. The operating options are configurable*. Here is a possible example:

* By the body that bears the responsibility and certifies the conformity of the tail lift.

System & Installation variants

The Cobra 390 system offers maximum flexibility. Existing tail lift controllers can be retrofitted. For manufacturers, the controller can also be configured and used stand-alone.

The following options are available:

Cobra 390 retrofit:

- Installation in existing tail lift controls
- Complete system incl. platform sensor, position sensors, connection cable and handheld transmitter
- Full functionality with all zones (slight restrictions possible depending on manufacturer)

Cobra 390 retrofit light:

- Cost-effective version with handheld transmitter & controller
- Platform angle detection not possible. This must be provided by the tail lift manufacturer.
- Optional: Zone localisation with position sensors

Cobra 390 complete system OEM:

- Stand-alone control system for manufacturers
- Stand-alone system can be used with or without remote control

Safety

The revolutionary zone localisation system protects the user from operating errors without having to restrict themselves significantly during operation. It is possible to work quickly and comply with the applicable EU and SUVA guidelines at the same time.

The intelligent platform sensor ensures that the lift is always in a horizontal position, even on uneven terrain, so that the load cannot shift.

During development, the controller was already prepared for Performance Level 3d and equipped accordingly with intelligent sensors and redundant hardware and software. This is particularly interesting for stand-alone operation and manufacturers in the OEM market.

Time saving

Gain valuable time with every loading and unloading operation.

Thanks to Cobra 390, valuable time is gained threefold:

  1. The tail lift can already be opened while the chauffeur is moving to the rear of the vehicle.
  2. There is no need for strenuous and unhealthy climbing up and down to the platform.
  3. The platform can be readjusted at any time during loading and unloading.

The following is an example calculation* of time savings.

*All times are based on exemplary empirical values and are without guarantee.

Compact handheld transmitter

Ergonomic housing for hard use. Keyboard easy to operate even with gloves on.

Thanks to the ergonomic housing with the surrounding rubber coating, the handheld transmitter fits perfectly in your hand. The LED display, which has been thought out down to the last detail, guides you through all operating situations with simple symbols.

The handheld transmitter can be attached to the trouser belt by means of a belt clip or loop. Versions with actuation protection for one-click operation are available upon customer request.

Variokey

If the Cobra 390 controller is equipped with the Variokey feature (optional), the radio control can be coupled to any Cobra 390 tail lift within the company fleet in just a few steps. This means that the radio control remains with the driver as a personal operating instrument, even if he changes the towing vehicle or couples a trailer. And it's that simple:

  1. Switch the driver's cab switch or the receiver power supply off and on again. The radio control can now be coupled in the next 3 minutes.
  2. Hold the handheld transmitter at a position sensor of the vehicle to be connected (distance < 0.5 m).
  3. Hold down the towing vehicle or trailer key.
    - During the pairing process, a flashing running light appears.
    - After 3 seconds, the connection setup starts, this is indicated with a running light.
    - If the connection is successful, the towing vehicle or trailer LED starts to light up.
  4. The radio control is now coupled and can be connected to the tail lift.

Variokey

Thanks to Variokey, the radio control can be easily coupled with several Cobra 390 tail lifts.

Robust technology in a small format

Optimally protected against environmental influences, vibrations and corrosion.

The handheld transmitter as well as the controller and the sensors are optimally protected against environmental influences, vibrations and corrosion. All external components are enclosed in UV-protected and stone impact-resistant materials.

All inputs and outputs are also electrically protected against almost all possible interference. The components are designed for an operating life of more than 20 years.

Thanks to the compact dimensions of the controller, which is the size of a Swiss chocolate, the technology can be stowed almost anywhere.

You can mount the position sensors on both sides of the vehicle and, thanks to their robust construction, they can withstand even hard stone impacts.

The platform sensor measures the angle of the platform for you and offers the possibility to read in the blinker lights, as well as foot switches on the platform. Not only the housing is designed in a stone impact resistant form, but also the plug connections are well protected mechanically and against water influences.
